Noise of Art's Wicker Man Disco Inferno

On the 40th anniversary of the cult film The Wicker Man, Elefest presents the London debut of Noise of Art‘s club-based music, film and art show inspired by the 1973 British horror classic. The event combines nightclub, cinema, theatre and contemporary dance, accompanied by spoken word performance from stage and screen star Nathaniel Parker.

Parker‘s leading roles include starring in the TV series Inspector Lynley Mysteries and Merlin. He has just finished a West End run, appearing alongside Dame Helen Mirren in the Award winning stage play The Audience, and is currently rehearsing for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s forthcoming production of Wolf Hall. Parker will be reading passages from David Pinner’s The Ritual, the book that inspired the film, which have been specially selected for this show by the author.

The event is part of Noise of Art’s two-year celebration of the first 100 years of electronic music – marking 100 years since Luigi Russolo wrote Manifesto for An Art of Noises and built the first proto synthesisers in 1914. After the first World War Russolo moved to Paris and started using his electronic instruments to accompany silent films.

To start the evening off, Matt Black, half of the celebrated electronic pioneers Coldcut, will be creating a new electronic soundtrack silent film from the Russolo period.Original Hacienda DJ and Bugged Out resident Justin Robertson will be playing alongside Noise of Art founder, DJ Ben Osborne, playing stripped bare technoclash club soundtrack to accompany Parker’s spoken word performance.

The show features Noise of Art’s renowned cinema-graphic visual projections, live electronic music and a specially created contemporary dance piece.
