An exhibition exploring the power of art as a tool of expression when other forms of communication are lost following a stroke.

This promises to be a powerful and highly personal exhibition of art and sculpture where beautiful and sometimes surprising works throw light on how individuals can connect creatively with society when words are not so easily available. The pieces are especially powerful when you take into consideration the difficulties overcome by the individuals; from loosing the use of their writing hand so having to learn to draw and paint with their other to creating a new visual language in order to communicate.

Exhibitors are all from the UCL Communication Clinic which provides a speech and language service for people with acquired communication problems, most often aphasia, arising from brain injury caused predominantly by a stroke. Their contribution provides a vital research resource to UCL and each and every one of them has a fascinating story to tell.
