Pale The Wall
Vanessa Hodgkinson
Until 8 June
Insight: Talks by the artist Sundays 27 April & 25 May 15.00

Pale The Wall is an installation and exhibition by Vanessa Hodgkinson, artist in residence. Hodgkinson finds inspiration for her art in the traditional geometry of Islamic art and architecture.

The centrepiece of the exhibition is a wall, echoing the separation wall in the West Bank and covered in a twelve-point star pattern. When it is completed, pieces will be gradually cut out, which visitors can take away with them.

Also on display is a series of watercolour paintings which use the same twelve-point star pattern for their basic structure. Each one is made from a photograph abstracted into a series of colours in the pattern.

The exhibition space will be open at all times while the artist is at work. Visitors can witness the creation, interact with the artist and take part in the dismantling of the work.
