Beggars shot to fame with their remarkable version of Leonard Cohen's The Future. The newcomers from Reading took Cohen’s early-'90s vision of a post-Cold War apocalypse and gave it a furious and accusatory garage-rock makeover. It takes guts and confidence to cover one of Cohen’s most complex songs and Beggars swiftly acquired a strong fan base, great supporting opportunities and a spot at this year's Glastonbury Festival. With their debut album launched in the autumn, stardom is within reach.
Support band:
Golden Silvers
Described by Michael Eavis as the “new Oasis or Coldplay”, and championed by Radio 1's Huw Stephens and Zane Lowe, Golden Silvers were neck-and-neck with The Travelling Band to win Glastonbury’s New Talent competition, so both bands have been invited to play there this year.
Plus DJs all night.
